What we store, and why.

  1. What we collect. Email address and account details; whether you are a free reader or paid member; email opens and site usage logs (IP address, browser, pages viewed); messages you send us. We do not collect phone numbers. We do not collect or store payment card data.
  2. Payments. Payments go through Lemon Squeezy's hosted checkout. Lemon Squeezy is the merchant of record and processes your payment details under its own privacy policy. We receive only your name, email, country, plan and payment status.
  3. Why. To run your account and deliver articles and emails (contract); billing, tax and fraud prevention (legal obligation / legitimate interest); security and preventing account sharing or scraping (legitimate interest); aggregated site analytics (legitimate interest, or consent where required). Marketing emails only with consent; unsubscribe any time.
  4. We do not transfer or rent personal data, use it for third-party advertising, or ask about your finances or holdings.
  5. Who we share with. Only service providers that help run Dawn Tape: our hosting provider, our email delivery provider, our payment provider (Lemon Squeezy) and, if used, an analytics provider. Also authorities where the law requires it, and a successor if the publication is transferred.
  6. International transfers. Providers may process data outside your country, with standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards where required.
  7. Retention. Account data while your account is open plus up to 12 months; billing records as tax law requires; logs up to 90 days.
  8. Cookies. Essential login cookies; analytics cookies only with consent where required.
  9. Security. Encryption in transit and limited access. No system is perfectly secure; we will notify you of a breach where required.
  10. Your rights. Access, correction, deletion, portability, objection and withdrawal of consent. EU/UK users may complain to their supervisory authority. California residents: we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. We answer requests within 30 days.
  11. Children. Not for anyone under 18.
  12. Changes. Posted here with a new date; material changes notified by email.
